About me
I am a researcher in the Department of Macroeconomics at the Halle Institute for Economic Research (IWH) , where I am pursuing my PhD. My research moves across macroeconomics, environmental economics and labour economics, both within these fields and at the points where they meet. My work has appeared in reputed peer-reviewed journals including Journal of Environmental Management, Renewable Energy, Sustainable Development, Economics of Governance and International Review of Applied Economics. I have been trained in economics across the Indian, British and German academic systems, which has given me a fairly mixed view of how the subject is taught, researched and applied. Before joining IWH, I held research positions at Leibniz Institute for Financial Research SAFE , the Chair in Monetary and Fiscal Policy at Goethe University Frankfurt , the National Growth & Macroeconomic Centre at NCAER , the Research Centre of the Deutsche Bundesbank , and the ifo Center for International Economics . Outside research, I am usually somewhere between a book, a sketchbook, a half-written screenplay, a theatre seat or a table-tennis table and, whenever I get the chance, underwater.
